The Experience
With Alpine Guides we can offer flexible packages for alpine ski tourers/split-boarders who want to venture onto the glacial névés of the Aoraki/Mount Cook and Westland regions. Take advantage of the guides’ extensive local knowledge, while experiencing the biggest glaciated mountains of New Zealand's Southern Alps.
Ski The Glaciers package is perfect for small groups who want to extend their experience into the high mountains, touring and ski mountaineering.
These regions have endless options for touring. The trip format can easily be tailored to suit intermediate through to expert skiers and snowboarders.
Potential Options
- With multiple tour options from the numerous lines in the Tasman & Muchison Glaciers ; The Mannering Glacier from Starvation Saddle; The Aida glacier, with potential lines off Mount Sydney King and Classen Saddle; Numerous tours in the Darwin & Bonney Glaciers or Ski from Hochsetter Dome
Stay
Tours are based out of one of the area’s network of alpine huts. Your team will fly in, set up base, then head out each day to explore new terrain, or tour to another hut.
What's Included
Experienced IFMGA/NZMGA guides’ intimate knowledge of the locations is unsurpassed. Based in Aoraki Mount Cook, Alpine Guides’ logistical support is unbeatable. As well as access to some amazing big-mountain lines, guides will help you to develop your technique, taking you to a new personal level of backcountry skiing, avalanche safety, route-finding and general mountain awareness. From 4-7 days included you will have free use of their range of technical gear: Accommodation from day one to finish: All meals & snacks: Flights in /out of mountains: local transport & of course your IFMGA/NZMGA profile mountain guide. You can sign up as an individual, or bring a team of enthusiastic friends. The dates can be tailored to suit your plans, from July through early-October.
